Saturday May 20, 2017 PCGC held the second match of the High Power Rifle Season. There were 13 competitors 6 Of our Juniors and 7 adults. The weather was bright, hot and ended with partly cloudy. The temperatures were in the 90s.
Of the Junior competitors we had two first timers, this was their first formal match. Sarah and Harley, Harley is the newest addition to the Junior Team. All competitors for the most part shot scores exceeding their classifications and are to be commended for their efforts.

PCGC got back to conducting XTC High Power Rifle matches in the traditional manner on August 12, 2017. We really regret that we could not hold the match in June but no one wants to sit and stand in mud. With herculean effort by a number of members and a whole bunch of effort, we laid approximately 1000 pieces of sod on the new elevated firing points. The match Saturday was the first time we used the "down range" firing point. It was relatively smooth without dips and holes.
The match date Saturday was set back a week due to a scheduling snafu, hopefully no one will be disappointed next Saturday if they show up and are greeted by the 4-H Competitors.
It turned out to be a sunny 87-91 degree day with humidity at 100%. Muggy to say the least. We had 12 people attend mostly PCGC people except for Steven (Bear) Lewis and Tom McManus. The people that shoot with are top notch, the fellowship and camaraderie is excellent. After the match the firing line converged on El Chili Rojo for lunch.
Below are the results from the match.

The final NRA High Power Rifle XTC Match for the 2017 was held Saturday September 16.
Turnout continues to be on the slack side we had only 7 competitors for September. It was a wonderful comfortable day in the mid to high 80s.
The construction on the range is 95% completed with the handicap ramp walls up, the pouring of the actual ramp floor to commence in the next few weeks. The range berm is grass now with all the mud gone on the two firing lines. The firing point at 200 yards is comfortably smooth with a slight back slope for drainage.
The CMP GSM "wood gun" matches are scheduled to commence the the 3rd Saturday in October and will run until the 3rd Saturday in February.
The match winner this month was Haley Robinson, a Jr. Competitor, with a score of 780-15x. Thomas McManus was the winner of the Master Class with a score of 770-17x.
Harley Jones another Jr. Competitor was the winner of the Sharpshooter Class with a score of 732-12x. This is only the 4th or 5th match Harley has competed in, she should be receiving her NRA Classification card soon.

In 2018 we will start our NRA High Power Rifle season in March, PCGC intends to hold 6 matches weather permitting.

Unfortunately the storms in May forced the cancelling of the May match. I understand from Bobby Robinson we had some folks show up on the appointed day and practiced.

I apologized for not being timely in posting the June results. Compared to May it was a sunny day, temperature in the high 80s and HUMID!
We had 11 competitors 2 seniors and 5 juniors.
Here's the results:

Polk County Gun Club resumed the NRA High Power Rifle Matches after a sabattical for the National Matches held at Camp Perry Ohio.
We had 11 competitors attend, three from the Belton, SC Gun Club. The day was overcast 90% of the time with rain threatening when we shot from the 300 yard line. The temperature was mild in the mid to high 80s. We had some outstanding performances from two of our Junior competitors Sarah K. and Payton C. Will Doherty was the Match Winner and 1st High Master (Belton Club). Sarah K. was the 1st Sharpshooter and our own Virginia Bowyer was the 1st Master, and representing PCGC Seniors, was Ed Skeels 1st Expert.

As far as the season aggregate race there are some very close scores, it is going to hinge on the September match. The idea is to drop each person's lowest score and to count their three best. Several folks have not returned to any of the matches except the first. In total we are only having 4 matches since the May match was cancelled due to flooding and mud slides.
